When to collect fly agaric

Amanita mushrooms grow at different times in each region, no mushroom picker can name the exact dates, but on average in Russia they begin to collect fly agaric from mid-July and, ending in October, we repeat again, it all depends on the climate of the region where fly agaric is collected.

Any fly agaric contains muscimol and ibotenic acid. Muscimol is a psychoactive substance, and ibotenic acid is a toxin that our body, to put it mildly, does not need. The proportions of these substances always depend on many factors, including the geography of the places where fly agarics gather.

It is important to know: the later the fly agaric is collected, the more psychoactive substances they contain, that is, muscimol, as a rule, from the beginning of September to the end of October, the most effective are fully ripe mushrooms, their size does not matter. There is an opinion on the Internet that the most effective fly agarics are not opened hats, in the form of a grenade, but in fact such hats are simply more beautiful when dried, they are easier to wash, but nothing more. The most effective is the ripe open fly agaric, so you need to collect them. At the moment we are talking about the red fly agaric, while the panther fly agaric has a different look, which is three, and sometimes four times stronger than the red fly agaric. The best collection of fly agaric is carried out on sunny edges, since ultraviolet light affects the active substances, collected mushrooms growing in sunny places are twice as effective as fly agaric growing in the shade, since the best synthesis of active substances occurs in sunlight.
